Greyhounds Reach the Beach

Greyhounds Reach the Beach is an absolute spectacle. Running for over 30 years, this event transforms our little stretch of sand into a greyhound paradise every Columbus Day weekend.

What started in 1995 as a casual meetup among friends right here in Dewey has exploded into one of the most unique weekends of the year. While the heavy lifting (vendors and speakers) happens up the road at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, the heart of the event is still very much felt on the streets of Dewey. You'll see thousands of retired racers lounging on the sand, flooding the sidewalks along Highway One, and taking over the patios at pet-friendly spots like The Starboard.

The Schedule: It's packed with dog-centric fun like hound walks, boat tours, Doga (that's dog yoga), and the touching Blessing of the Hounds.

Don't Miss: The parade on the Rehoboth Boardwalk. Seeing that many greyhounds marching in unison against the ocean backdrop is honestly a sight you won't forget. Whether you own a retired racer or just love dogs, this is one of the most wholesome weekends on the calendar.
